You mostly likely already know that the Governor put New York State on “Pause” at this time. The weeks to come still hold many unknowns.
Town Hall is currently closed to the public at this time. Business that needs to be done can be arranged by calling or e-mailing the appropriate departments. Due to the shortened staff requirements and some departments working remotely, you may need to leave a message, but someone will reach out to you. Drop boxes are located by the entrance door on the upper and lower floors.
Town Parks remain open for passive recreation only. The playgrounds and basketball courts are closed. When visiting the parks please practice social distancing.
The Senior Center is closed until further notice. We look forward to seeing you all again soon.
These are tough times we are currently going through. I have been extremely impressed by the stories of compassion and caring going on in the Town. We must show patience and support for one another.
Whether you are a Nurse, Medical Professional, Doctor, Policeman/woman, Firefighter, E.M.S, Supermarket Staff and all the other many essential employees or volunteer on the front lines of this pandemic, thank you for being there for us.

With the support and direction of our Police Department, the Town of Poughkeepsie will be offering a Woman’s Safety Awareness initiative on Thursday, June 13 from 6-8pm. This program is designed to raise awareness of women’s safety measures, promote dialog and strengthen individuals, families and communities.
- Encourage and empower women and raise awareness of safety measures.
- Recognize the important role that your instincts and gut reaction(s) play.
- Discover potentially dangerous situations and how to navigate them.
- Learn to make a safety plan.
- Decrease the odds of becoming a victim.
This event is not geared towards “self-defense”, but rather it is an informative discussion about the dangerous situation that could potentially plague us each day and how to better approach these situations.
The presentation will be hosted by the Town’s first female Lieutenant, Shannon Rodriguez, and Officer Lindsay Marinelli. Any interested employees are encouraged to reach out and register for this free event.

At the September 18th Town Board meeting, the Department of Taxation and Finance will have a representative giving a brief presentation regarding the New Registration process for Basic Star. Senior citizens receiving the Enhanced Star exemption are not affected by the new requirements but must continue to apply annually or participate in the Income Verification Program.
Also, on Friday, 9/13, Anthony Delvecchio and Michael Lafalce will be performing at Crestwood Park from 6:00 pm to dusk for an End of Summer Concert sponsored by Rose & Kiernan.

The clinic is scheduled for Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Town of Poughkeepsie Community Room, 19 Tucker Drive, Poughkeepsie, NY. 12603.
The clinic is free to Dutchess County residents ($10.00 per pet for non-residents).
All dogs must be on a leash. Cats and ferrets must be in carriers.
In order to receive a rabies vaccination certificate that is good for three years, pet owners will need to provide proof of previous rabies vaccination for their pet(s); without proof, a vaccination certificate that is good for 1 year will be given.

The Town of Poughkeepsie is seeking bids on the construction of a New Senior Center building and modification of an existing structure at One Overocker Road. The bids are due on January 16, 2012. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has required the Town of Poughkeepsie to identify the significant users of the municipal collection/treatment system. Please fill out the Industrial User Pretreatment Questionnaire for your business. If you also received a Facility Mercury Use Survey, please fill that form out as well for every business that you own.
Last weekend's storm has been a terrible hardship for everyone. The Town of Poughkeepsie Highway Department has been busy clearing away the damage from the town's right of way in an effort to keep up with the leaf pick-up schedule. This is not a town-wide residential brush pick-up. We ask residents to please NOT contribute to these piles, as it is making it impossible to cover the entire town before the snow flies again. We will be opening the Transfer Station free of charge for you to dispose of your BRUSH and storm debris only on Saturday 11/5 and Saturday 11/12 from 7AM to 3PM.

Central Hudson will have dry ice available at the Red Hook High School beginning today, Thursday, February 25th at 1:00 PM.
Free to residents: The Sewer department will use their camera to check a sewer line for blockages prior to a resident having to pay a contractor to dig up a line. This will save residents money on digging costs if it turns out there are no blockages. Please call prior to digging to arrange for an appointment.
An informational session will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00pm. This will be an opportunity for the public to review/comment on the Town?s 2010 tentative budget.
Peach Hill Park: Peach Hill Park will be closed for the next three weeks for trail reconstruction work, according to Tom Meyering the Town of Poughkeepsie?s Park Facilities and Programs Director. The work includes the construction of 2200 feet of accessible trail and remediation of agricultural pesticides in the picnic area and overlooks. It is funded by a Federal Recreational Trails Program Grant administered by the New York State Office of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation. It is anticipated that the park will be reopened by November 13.
Peach Hill Park is a 160 acre Town of Poughkeepsie Park on Edgewood Drive off Salt Point Turnpike. It includes over three miles of hiking trails and the highest point in the Town of Poughkeepsie. On Thursday April 24, 2008 at 7:00 PM, there will be a Fire Commissioners Meeting at the Violet Ave. School regarding the extremely high "FIRE TAXES" the residents of this district pay, in order to support almost 80% of "TAX EXEMPT" PROPERTY OWNERS.
Come discuss your concerns with the Fairview Fire Department Board of Commissioners and Various Elected Officials, in order to find a solution to this unfair burden, placed on the taxpayers of this Fire District.

9/19/2007 - Basic Star Rebate Checks
The State of New York is mailing applications to Dutchess County residents, the week of 9/17/07, which you need to complete and mail back to the state. You will be receiving a rebate check sometime after they receive the application.If you reside in another county, you should have received your application.
The application will have a special STAR code unique to the individual property. In order to properly complete the application, you will need this code.
?Seniors 65 & older should have received their rebate checks by now.
