Transfer Station

The Highway Transfer station accepts items for disposal from Town residents only when the Transfer Station is scheduled.

  • Current proof of Town residency and a photo ID must be provided before entering the facility.
  • Transfer station use is for Town residents only.  Commercial haulers and businesses will not have access to the station.
  • New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) requires that all open vehicles or trailers need to be tarped.

Discarding Bulk Items

The Town of Poughkeepsie Highway Department will open its Transfer Station 12 times from May through September for Town residents to discard unwanted bulk items.

10th, 11th, 12th, 13th (Monday through Thursday)

What We Accept

This is our current list of acceptable items for 2021. You can call the Solid Waste Management Department at 845-463-6020 for information regarding the disposal of certain electronics and hazardous materials.

We do not accept televisions or computer monitors.
