Water

The Town of Poughkeepsie Water Department services over 10,000 customers within the town boundaries. We also service portions of the City of Poughkeepsie, Village of Wappingers Falls, and the Town of Hyde Park. The bulk of our water comes from the Hudson River through Poughkeepsie's jointly operated water treatment facility.

Major Stations

The Water Department maintains two major stations that pump an average of 5 million gallons per day. We also have five booster stations and three wells capable of producing 1.75 million gallons per day as an alternate resource for emergencies.

Storage Tanks

The Water Department has two storage tanks with a capacity of 5 million gallons each, approximately two hundred miles of water main, and 3,000 fire hydrants.
